Help Needed with Auckland and national church
attendance research - great opportunity for student
assignments
-
Obtain attendance stats for 1981-2004 from head
offices of 25 denominations to verify figures used here: particularly
Presbyterian, Apostolic, Elim, Vineyard, New Life, Methodist, several
evangelical Methodist groups, Ringatu, Ratana. Also add these into the DAWN data to
verify it as a starting point.
-
Review Peter Lineham's material on the Brethren to
see if it is possible to verify Brethren stats.
-
Go to the basement of St John's College and get
Anglican stats for Auckland and New Zealand, recalculating Auckland
figures from within Greater Auckland boundaries and comparing with
national figures.
-
Check with Pat Lythe on who has national Catholic
figures. Compare Auckland attendance rates with national attendance
rates
-
Obtain the original DAWN research database and check
its sources.
-
Convert comments on the Excel Spreadsheets underling
this data to properly references footnotes.
-
Coordinate with the Church Life Survey leaders,
particularly Max Scott, as to whether there are any data they have which
can add to verification.
-
Find out if Lynne Taylor or Max has the more detailed
data from Statistics New Zealand on religions.
-
Someone with institutional backing needs to take over
the Auckland church database as an ongoing project. This should be
done as a service to several organisations who regularly are serving all
the churches. This would include sustaining a database of leaders of
ethnic church networks.
